Simple, practical dam care
Every dam is different, but getting started is simple.
Most new clients begin with a Dam Health Check. From there, Theron can suggest whether a yearly follow-up, seasonal observation or practical fish, habitat or vegetation work may be useful.
The Dam Steward focuses on practical observation and care of fish, habitat, vegetation and the dam-edge environment. Structural dam safety inspection, engineering assessments and formal ecological or scientific assessments are not provided.
Dam Health Check
$220
The best place to start.
A practical first look at what is happening in and around your dam.
Includes:
up to 90 minutes on site
walk-around observation of the dam and surrounding area
fish activity observation
underwater GoPro observation where conditions allow
observation of vegetation, habitat and visible dam-edge features
noting visible areas that may benefit from attention
completed and simple Dam Visit Report
practical next-step suggestions
Best for: new clients, recently purchased acreage properties, suspected fish problems, or anyone simply curious about the fish, habitat and vegetation around their dam.
Annual Dam Stewardship
$220 per visit.
A yearly check-in for established dams.
For existing clients who would like a yearly follow-up on fish activity, habitat and vegetation.
Includes:
repeat observation of fish activity, habitat, vegetation and visible dam-edge features
repeat underwater GoPro observation where suitable
comparison with previous observations
updated Dam Visit Reprot
recommendations for the year ahead
Best for: existing clients who want a simple yearly record of changes in fish activity, habitat and vegetation.
Additional works and materials are quoted separately.
Seasonal Dam Stewardship
$600 for three visits
For dams that are changing, improving or need a closer eye.
Three scheduled visits over 12 months, timed to suit the dam rather than simply visiting for the sake of it.
Each visit includes:
fish activity, habitat and vegetation observation
underwater GoPro observation where conditions allow
progress check on previous recommendations
noting visible changes or areas that may benefit from attention
updated Dam Visit Report
Best for: dams undergoing habitat, planting or fish management works, new planting, pest-fish concerns, newly stocked dams or properties where conditions are changing.
No automatic renewal.
Practical Works & Habitat Improvement
Some dams need practical work rather than another observation report.
Theron can assist with agreed practical works such as:
habitat improvement
dam-edge planting
replacement planting
fish management
small-scale habitat and planting work
preparation for appropriate native fish
native fish stocking where suitable and permitted
Quoted to suit the work. Costs depend on the time required, access and any plants, fish or materials needed. You'll know the cost before additional work begins.
Native Fish Stocking
Bringing native life back to your dam.
Where native fish stocking appears appropriate and is permitted, Theron can help arrange and introduce native fish sourced for the relevant area.
Fish and stocking costs are quoted individually because the right species and numbers depend on the dam, its location and its existing fish population.
Species selection and stocking will be guided by applicable Queensland requirements and the local catchment.
A Note About Pricing
Every dam is different.
Listed prices are a guide for ordinary private dams with reasonable access. Dam size, site access, travel distance and the amount of work required may affect the final price.
If additional work is suggested, Theron will discuss the cost with you before going ahead.
Travel within our standard Logan and Brisbane South service area is included. Travel outside the standard service area may attract an additional fee.
All services are practical observation and dam-care services, not formal ecological or environmental assessments. Suggestions are based on conditions observed at the time of the visit.
